One day, Hina appears at the American Legation, notifying Eugene that the King has summoned him to his palace. She says for him to be there at 8pm, and that they will pick him up at the Glory Hotel.

When he arrived at King Gojong’s palace, he started a conversation about the incident. Gojong asks why he saved the woman’s life, and if he was considering giving some advice about saving Joseon.

Eugene responds saying that he saved the woman not because she was a Joseon woman, but because he felt the urge to save her, and that he couldn’t give any advice that would benefit Joseon. But when the interpreter translated it differently, Eugene pointed it out, and the interpreter was excused. Eugene and Gojong had a conversation in Korean, where Gojong asked where he was from. Eugene said he wasn’t sure, and the minister demanded to let the king know where he was from. Eugene admits his parents were slaves, so he moved to America. He was quickly excused and the minister apologized to the king for not researching more about Eugene’s past.

With Hui Sung’s parents, his mother was frantically looking for the ornament that Eugene had returned when he threatened them. An-Pyeong asks what she’s looking for, and after she told him he said that he sold it to the Pawn Shop. She then went hysterical, yelling at him how he could do such a thing, saying that Eugene could come back anytime and threaten them again. An Pyeong apologizes, and gives the money so she could get a refund. She does so, and she finds a souvenir that belonged to Hui Sung. She picks it up and asks what it was, and the shop owner says that Hui Sung had exchanged that for money, too. She picks it up, pays for it, and coincidentally runs into Hui Sung on her way out. She scolds him and hands him the souvenir, telling him to keep it and never hand it in for money again.

Seung Gu is at the US Embassy, and he gets surrounded by guards, and it reminds him of the time his father got shot. Eugene lets him in and Seung Gu asks why Eugene is hanging around Ae Shin. Eugene plays dumb and says he has been hanging out with a man and not Ae Shin. Seung Gu picks up a gun and cocks at him, demanding him to tell the truth. Eugene informs him that the gun does not work. Seung Gu puts the gun down and Eugene tells him a lot of people wanted to kill him when all he did was try to help Joseon.

At Hanseong, there was a train where Dong Mae and his gang were at. They were calling for the last boarding, when a gunshot was heard from afar. It started a ruckus, and Yoojo yells at his gang and leads them to the guy who shot, and Dong Mae yells it’s just a delay for them to miss the bus. He turns around and sees the gunner hide quickly.

The gunner runs on the rooftops, and Dong Mae now has a gun. He aims it at the shooter but then sees the eyes of Ae Shin. His eyes widened, and as she jumped from one building to the other, Dong Mae shot her leg. She tumbles down and falls onto the floor breaking a crate, feeling the pain on her leg. Dong Mae runs over where Ae Shin fell, but she’s already left and what was left was a little pile of blood.

Yoojo runs over to Dong Mae and says the train has already left, and Dong Mae yells in frustration.

Later, Dong Mae sits on the train tracks and hopes that Ae Shin wouldn’t show up. But of course, she shows up. Dong Mae greets her and says that it’s a coincidence, them both being here. Ae Shin explains she’s heading back home from the temple, in a mourning outfit. She tries to leave, but Dong Mae stands in her way. She orders him to stand back before she kills him. Dong Mae scoffs and asks, “Wouldn’t I be faster at that?” And Ae Shin doubts him and walks past him.

Later on, Eugene visits the mechanic shop, since a few days ago he dropped off his music box to get it fixed. Dong Mae is also there, to fix his sword. Dong Mae says it was guns against swords, but that he wasn’t good with a gun, so he could only shoot his target on the leg. He then questions Eugene if he saw a man limping, but he claims he hasn’t.

Later, Ae Shin visits the medicine shop, where she allows herself to limp. But she noticed that she wasn’t alone and another person was there. Eugene.

They both were happy to see each other and ask each other about their injuries. Eugene marks that Dong Mae was looking for a man limping, that he shot a man on the leg. Ae Shin jokes around and says that her leg was injured but she wasn’t a man. She asks to keep her secret with him and him only, and he agrees.

She brings up that love was harder than she thought, and Eugene says they could stop whenever she wanted, and she refuses. She asks what was next after an introduction and a handshake, and he says they might not be able to do this one but it was called a “hug.” Before he could continue on, Ae Shin ran over to him and hugged him. “I’ve already learned every word starting with ‘H’.”

Comments from me

This episode reveals a bit more of each character’s personality, and the end made me smile a lot. Going further into this drama review, it’s more shocking how people show their affection of love and hate, and what each character goes through.

This is what makes me love this drama so much, the way these characters do the most simplest things, they show their feelings, and it’s really interesting how actors really do that.

I love Ae Shin’s character so much, it’s really stubborn and mischievous in such a good and fun way.

Dong Mae sometimes really gets me angry, but other times I literally am head over heels for him. He makes me angry because of his actions and how he instantly regrets it, and then it’s too late.
